Rihanna and Drake flew under the radar in New York City on Saturday night. The two met up for a dinner date at Lower East Side eatery Sons of Essex. (Good luck getting a table there now.)
Both are in town for Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards being held for the first time at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. Drake is up for Best Hip Hop Video for "Started From the Bottom," while Rihanna is up for Best Female Video for "Stay" at the awards show.
No photos of the couple dining together were snapped, but several patrons tweeted about the sighting, including the restaurant's own chef.

@pabloszurek Hey, just consider it a compliment. Maybe they saw you as competition. Thanks for joining us! ;-*

Drake and Rihanna reportedly briefly dated in 2011 but things fizzled. "At the time it hurt, but she didn't mean to," Drake said of their short romance. "I'll never put that on her. I was hurt because I started to slowly realize what it was. I guess I thought it was more."
Rumors of the couple reuniting started to surface in July and again after Drake released his new single "Hold On We're Going Home," believed to be about Rihanna. The lyrics play off of RiRi's bad girl reputation with Drake singing, "Cause you're a good girl and you know it/ You act so different around me."
Rihanna voiced her love for Drake's "Hold On We're Going Home" by tweeting the tracks lyrics "I got my eyes on you" and "Cuz you're a good girl and you know it!" A video of her twerking to a Drizzy tune also surfaced. Here's to hoping we at least get another collaboration out of this.
