Kid Ink was a producer before he was a rapper, but 2014 saw the LA-bred 28-year-old pave his way to the top of the charts with his My Own Lane LP. The album, his second, featured production from DJ Mustard to Cardiak, and appearances from Pusha T to Chris Brown, the latter who appeared on Ink's chart-topping "Show Me." (The single actually broke the record held previously by Juvenile for the most consecutive weeks on the Rap Airplay Chart.)
Kid Ink has spent most of the year on tour behind My Own Lane. "The tour has been good," he tell VIBE. "It's not really my first headlining tour ever, but it's my first headlining US tour that was really set up with production, tour managers and had a bus full of people who were doing more than just performing and light shows."
VIBE caught up with the "Main Chick" rapper out East on his My Own Lane tour for the latest episode of Road Warriors. Watch as the Cali rapper preps to take the stage at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT to an intimate crowd. Stay tuned for Part 2, airing tomorrow.
