Forever the Sundance Kid, it seems that the legendary Robert Redford may be joining the comic-book universe as a top-ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, according to Deadline.
Thanks to the first film's climatic time-jump (SPOILER ALERT), the new Captain America film is highly anticipated—even with most of the film's original supporting cast not returning. Subtitled The Winter Soldier, the project could be adding Redford, a genuine film legend, to the cast, and many are saying the negotiations have already begun between him and Marvel Studios.
While it is unclear at this point who Redford would be playing, the rumor mill is saying that he could be playing Nick Fury's boss. It sounds like the Captain America is shaping up to be a stealth S.H.I.E.L.D. movie.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier finds our shield-flinging hero (played by Chris Evans) still struggling with his role in the modern world, while confronting his past when Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) shows up again in a very different form.
Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Emily VanCamp, Anthony Mackie (as The Falcon) and Frank Grillo are all confirmed for the movie, which Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely wrote and Anthony & Joe Russo will direct starting next month. You can expect the flick to hit theaters on April 4, 2014.
