/ September 13, 2013

Nearly three weeks have passed since MTV’s Video Music Awards occurred, and now Robin Thicke is ready to explain his side of story on stage that night.

His performance with Miley Cyrus not only left viewers in shock, but sparked week-long discussions on the Internet. Now, the “Blurred Lines” singer sat down for an interview with Star magazine where he said the whole premise of the performance was to “excite and provoke and entertain.”

“We knew what we were getting ourselves into. We’re entertainers and the VMAs is the perfect place for a little shock and awe,” the “Give It 2 U” singer told Star. “Yeah, we kind of knew when we were in rehearsal and we were like, ‘OK, if you touch me with your foam finger all over my crotch, obviously a few people are going to have something to say about this.’ But that was the whole point.”
