Actors Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck play a love-torn couple in director David Lowery's Sundance 2013 film Ain't Them Bodies Saints. Some would call the duo the new, modern day Bonnie & Clyde in this mellow and expansive pseudo-Western, which was picked up by IFC Films and won Sundance's Cinematography Award for a U.S. Dramatic film. The younger Affleck takes a turn playing an outlaw who escapes prison to reunite with his wife, played by Mara, and the child he has never seen. Things get complicated, to say the least.
Here, Lowery, a Sundance Institute alumni, and the cast of Ain't Them Bodies Saints talk to VIBE about being inspired by music when putting together the independent film.
