The Roots, Erykah Badu, Bootsy Collins, Biz Markie Pay Homage To Sylvia Robinson

Posted October 12, 2011
The stage of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon turned into a hip-hop version of Nick At Nite

, Monday night, as the hit children's show Yo Gabba Gabba! performed with The Roots and Erykah Badu in a funky tribute to the late Sylvia Robinson.

Gabba! host DJ Lance Rock, Bootsy Collins, Biz Markie and the monster crew of Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Toodee and Plex (minus the flashy Do It) took over the late-night talk show, singing "We're Gonna Party Today." The Roots' soul, Badu's vocals and the Gabba creatures' synchronized routine all blended into a fun-for-all performance.

It's not the first time ?uestlove and co. have collaborated with the popular kids' show. In March 2010, The Roots rocked out in Gabba Land with the song "Lovely, Love My Family."

Even if some of the Gabba hits "Party In My Tummy" and "I Like To Dance" (the party-rock anthems for toddlers) aren't on your playlist, one thing's for sure: there ain't no party like a Yo Gabba/ Roots party! --Adelle Platon
