Could 2012 be happening in 2013? Russia get struck by a meteor and we have the details after the break.

Russia’s Urals region was hit by a meteor as it streaked through the skies Friday morning. According to CNN, as of noon Moscow time, as many as 725 people had sought medical help after the meteor exploded with a flash and boom that shattered glass in buildings.

Deputy Health Minister Igor Kagramanyan said that at least 571 people had sought medical help, with 34 of them hospitalized, according to state-news agency Itar-Tass.

NASA agrees with the theory that the meteor was actually a bollide, or an exploding fireball theory. The response from the Russian Emergency Ministry has been inspiring: they’ve deployed several airplanes; 10,000 police officers; and 20,000 people to comb the area. Thankfully, the vast majority of injuries are not thought to be serious.
