Consider this the end of a two-year era.
Former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin will no longer be a paid contributor on Fox News, a source close to Palin tells ABC News. The same source says it was her decision to leave the network, even after Fox offered her an opportunity to renew her contract.
"We have thoroughly enjoyed our association with Gov. Palin," said Executive Vice President for Programming Bill Shine in a statement. "We wish her the best in her future endeavors."
Palin signed on as a Fox analyst in January 2010, providing political commentary and criticizing Democrats and President Barack Obama's presidency on-air. Palin had one of the most lucrative contracts at Fox, earning at least $1 million during her stint at the network.
