Secret Service Agent Found Dead From Apparent Suicide

Keenan Higgins Posted November 2, 2012

President Barack Obama has experienced a loss in his U.S. Secret Service team.

NDTV reports that Special Agent Rafael Prieto committed suicide, according to sources, after being under investigation for having an unreported romantic relationship with a foreign national.

Secret Service spokesman Max Milien confirmed that Prieto's death is now being investigated by the District of Columbia police, adding, "Rafael Prieto has a distinguished 20-year career with the Secret Service that was marked by accomplishment, dedication, friendships and the Secret Service is mourning a valued colleague."

Prieto's initial investigation stemmed from an administrative proceeding to see if he was in violation of Secret Service rules, the source said.

While this doesn't seem to be a direct threat to Obama's safety or his current presidential election, this still is a pretty shocking report.
