Shad Moss is adding "hacktivist" to his résumé. The rapper formerly known as Bow Wow will join the cast of CBS' spin-off series CSI: Cyber.
The network announced Tuesday (Aug. 19) that the 27-year-old multi-hyphenate will be playing expert cyber hacker, Brody "Baby Face" Nelson, whose claim to notorious fame was hacking into the stock exchange and wiring half a billion dollars to his bank account. James Van Der Beek and Patricia Arquette will also star in the show, based on the work real-life cyber psychologist Mary Aiken.
"Bow Wow is a gifted young actor who will have the responsibility, through his character, to set an example for young people who watch the show to 'do what's right' even when you know 'nothing but wrong,'" series creator, Anthony E. Zuiker, said. "It will be a redemption story and a cautionary tale all wrapped into one. The role of Nelson required someone with deep acting chops and off-the-charts smarts. Shad Moss is a unique talent that possesses both."
Bow's previous acting credits include the film Like Mike and shows Ugly Betty and Entourage, as well as a current hosting gig on BET's 106 & Park.
CSI: Cyber is set to premiere midseason on CBS.
