Shyne Released From Prison? Not so Fast, Says Immigration Officials

Posted October 7, 2009

Shyne was set to be released from prison on Tuesday (October 6), yet he's still on hold pending citizenship review.

The former Bad Boy Records recording artist (real name: Jamal Barrow) had served eight years of a 10-year sentence in connection with a shooting at a New York nightclub in 2001 involving Bad Boy label head Diddy, and his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez.

His release is postponed while officials determine whether Shyne should be deported to his birthplace of Belize, a rep confirmed with MTV Tuesday.

"Shyne is currently in federal custody while his future immigration status is determined," the rep said.
