Singing Soldier Gets The Axe From 'America's Got Talent'

One of America's bravest just got cut from the talent competition show America's Got Talent, but was it his singing or the controversy surrounding him?

Timothy Michael Poe sang his last song, a rendition of George Strait's "The Chair" before he was cut from the competition on Tuesday.

However, according to SFGate, the real controversy started when the country singer appeared earlier this month on the show and claimed to be injured by a grenade in Afghanistan in 2009.

Based on his recollection, Poe blocked a grenade blast to save his buddies. However, the National Guard said records show Poe wasn't injured in combat in Afghanistan.

Following criticism, Poe later told WFAA-TV in Dallas that he believed he was telling the truth but doesn't know what is real. He also provided a photo to America's Got Talent of a soldier that he passed off as himself. Poe's fiancée, Carrie Morris, said he accidentally submitted the photo of Staff Sgt. Norman Bone in Afghanistan in 2006 because he was rushed.

This story is definitely far-fetched. Although the show claims his dismissal was in no way related to his embellished hero tale, we're gonna go with our gut on this one. The competition continues...
