The Situation Explains Drug Problem: "I Want to Set the Record Straight"

After denying online reports of being admitted into rehab, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is setting the record straight.

The “Jersey Shore” reality star confirmed via a statement posted to his website that he is in a drug rehab program, but not for the reasons many may think.

From Sitch News:

“I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion. I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys.”

A note written after The Situation’s statement continued, “It is important for us, and for The Situation, to let our fans know the truth behind what is actually going on, and getting treatment is something Mike has done on his own volition.”

According to TMZ, however, sources close to the reality star claim he’s also in rehab for alcohol problems.

"Our sources also say The Sitch is 'very open' with other patients at Cirque about his drinking," TMZ reported.  "He discusses how his club appearances escalated his alcohol use."

We’re not sure exactly what’s going on, but we hope he recovers soon. —Stephanie Long
