This week's Entertainment Weekly is covered in zombies, well sort of...
The rag has debuted four exclusive covers featuring characters from Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead TV show, which you can see below, and emphasizes the two different communities that will be coming to a head this coming season.
Executive producer Robert Kirkman describes expectations that fans should watch for, saying, "This season really is about setting up these two worlds and watching them come to a head and collide. And you know that there are going to be some pretty explosive encounters between Rick and the Governor. This season is going to be about getting to know these two characters, and then waiting for their eventual confrontation that could destroy everything."
AMC has also announced via Entertainment Weekly that Dallas Roberts (Walk the Line) has been cast as a new character in the show named Milton (shown below). "Milton is the details guy," Kirkman explains. "He's the guy that works with the Governor, who is monitoring all situations and is trying to help the Governor make sense of this world that they're now living in. He's not exactly a scientist, but he's a smart guy that is trying to find out how zombies behave. Watching him do his little experiments is going to be a lot of fun."
Featured on the new covers are, of course, Rick Grimes, the Governor, fan favorite Michonne (with her two armless zombie slaves in tow), and, yes, Merle, the racist hick from Season One who was handcuffed and left to die by our heroes, is now prominently placed behind his brother sans hand.
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC and will premiere its third season on October 14th.
