There's no stopping Snoop. After rapper Snoop Dogg grabbed a headlining spot at the Big Day Out festival in Australia, petitions were fired off, calling for the Cali native’s “denied entry” into the country.
A women’s organization called Collective Shout wrote up an entreaty, which has over 3,500 signatures, to Minister for Immigration, Scott Morrison, to prohibit Snoop’s entry-visa because of his “misogynistic lyrics.”
“As a society which claims to be serious about eradicating violence against women, there should be no place for recording artists who glorify misogyny and degrade women for entertainment,” the group’s website reads. “Welcoming artists like Snoop Dogg sends a message that we don’t take our obligations to address violence against women seriously.”
Billboard reports that Morrison received the petition but said that Snoopzilla still has his visa.
The Big Day Out festival is set to take place Down Under Jan. 19.
