The late Bob Marley was a huge fan of soccer or what the rest of the world outside of the United States refers to as football. In light of Snoop Lion’s reggae transformation into “Bob Marley reincarnate,” Snoop Lion has decided to add soccer team owner to his budding resume.
Lion announced that he has plans to invest in the Celtic soccer team who upstaged Barcelona in early November. Although he didn’t watch the game he told the Daily Record, “I got a lot of interest in soccer. It’s not a new thing for hip-hop stars to invest in teams, but it is a new thing for hip-hop starts to invest in soccer teams.”
Whatever Snoop does always has shock value but don’t count him out just yet. As a huge fan of FIFA 13 and pictured in a Celtic t-shirt in 2005, Lion has asked his friend David Beckham about the team, confirming to him that “teams don’t come much bigger.” He also stated that as a member of the board his first goal would be to sign Beckham, a seemingly unrealistic feat as the midfielder plays for the L.A. Galaxy team.
Lion also made it known that he’s no fluke when it comes to soccer as he added that Georgios Samaras is his favorite player and sees, ”how passionate Celtic fans are about their team, and I could see myself making an investment if any of the board wanted to sell.”
It seems as though Snoop is ready to take his brand to new highs (pun intended) and wants to become the Jay-Z of the big green turf.
