Solange cut her summer tour short by cancelling her dates in Europe, which included a string of festival shows in Denmark, Belgium, Portugal, Norway, Finland and Poland. The “Losing You” singer was devastated to pull out her gigs but explained that family comes first as her eight-year-old son Daniel “Julez” Smith settles in to his new school.
"I wish I could put in words how much of a difficult decision this was," Solange said in a statement. “But between moving part-time to a new city, starting my son in a new school, and writing/recording my new record, I really had to make the best decision for my mental/physical health and provide some stability for my family. I am so so sooooo sorry if I've disappointed, and really hope to make it out to those special cities soon enough!"
Between being a single mother, relocating to Brooklyn and performing the world over including Glastonbury and Pitchfork Festival, Beyonce's younger sister admits that juggling priorities has not been easy.
"Motherhood is a balancing act, and it is not at all easy," she said in a recent interview with Brooklyn magazine. "I do the best I can, which involves a lot of saying no to things, actually, and a lot of really organized scheduling and a lot of help, to be honest."
Knowles' last-minute cancellations follow the recent scheduled performances at London's Koko and Yorkshire's Beacons Festival that she also called off. However, she promises fans that she will be back sooner rather than later.
"My son will be starting a new school, which unexpectedly begins a few weeks earlier than his previous one," she said. "It's imperative that I am there for his first week to transition him. I really hope that you understand and I promise I'll be back in your area soon enough to make up for it."
