The oft-talked about "console wars" has reached a level of excitement that popped off the room during today's Gamescom press conference. We now have a launch date for Sony's upcoming batch of content.
The press conference, which takes place every year in Cologne, Germany, found Sony revealing the intricacies of the PlayStation 4 live across the web and through Twitch TV. After showing off the updated PlayStation Network, a host of exclusive titles and the introduction of the Playroom.
Sony says that they will be releasing 15 disc-based titles that will be available for gamers between the launch date and the end of the year. Will this mark the end of disc gaming as we know it? Upon the end of the fourth quarter fiscal year, there will be 33 games in the market and gamers will have a lot of experiences to enjoy. In the midst of this press conference, Twitch announced its confirmed partnership with the PlayStation 4 console device. Through hitting the "Share" button on your wireless PS4 controller, you'll be able to let friends, foes, family, and more into your world of gaming. Broadcast the world over, users can upload their gorgeous gameplay directly to their Twitch channels. If that is not your thing, you can still stream live from other community members around the world. The feature is free, which makes the overall package of the PlayStation 4 on to behold.
"PlayStation has a long history of delivering some of the best gaming experiences in the industry and we're excited to have Twitch available on a console as heavily anticipated as PS4," Emmett Shear, Twitch CEO said. "Through this partnership we are paving the way for every PS4 gamer to become both a broadcaster and an avid spectator of amazing content."
Since launching in June 2011, Twitch has focused its efforts on being the de facto place for gaming, as well as being a platform for the vast and varied video game ecosystem. Consider this another hit for the world's leading video platform!
