Spotify History: Daft Punk Hits The Spot

Daft Punk can now add another Spotify record to their lists of accomplishments.

Random Access Memories beat the eight million streams record set by Mumford & Sons album Babel, currently having the largest number of streams in its first week in the United States. The album, which was released last week, is the fourth album from the Grammy-winning French group.

In addition to this, last month Daft Punk set a record when its song “Get Lucky” had the biggest streaming for a day for a single track in the U.S. and the United Kingdom. Since its debut, “Get Lucky” has been streamed more than 27 million times.

Copies of Random Access Memories are also selling adding to the group’s success. After moving 165,000 units in its first week, the LP is 2013’s fastest-selling record. The duo is also celebrating their first No. 1 album.
