Spotify Predicts Which Artists Will Win Grammy Awards This Year

Spotify Predicts Which Artists Will Win Grammy Awards This Year

VIBE Posted February 5, 2013

Are you a fan of Frank Ocean? Then, you probably aren't going to like the predictions that Spotify just released for the 2013 Grammy Awards.

In an effort to try and predict what is going to happen at the 55th Grammy Awards on Sunday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Spotify took a look at a bunch of data that the company has collected over the course of the last year. Essentially, they looked at which songs and albums were played most often on Spotify in the last 12 months or so in order to guess which artists will walk onto the Grammy stage on Sunday to receive Grammy Awards. And, somewhat surprisingly, Frank Ocean didn't win out in any of the major categories that he was nominated for this year.

So, who will win, according to Spotify? In the "Album of the Year" category, they have Mumford & Sons winning for their album, Babel. In the "Record of the Year" category, they have Goyte winning for their song, "Somebody That I Used To Know." The "Best New Artist" category is won by The Lumineers. And, Carly Rae Jepsen tops Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, and Rihanna to win the "Best Pop Solo Performance" category with her hit, "Call Me Maybe."

Not to worry, though, Frank Ocean fans. The Grammys are not a popularity contest, so these likely won't be the winners on Sunday. But, it's interesting to see that if the Grammys were based on stats, those would be the winners. To see who actually wins a Grammy this year, make sure you're tuned in on Sunday night to watch the show broadcasted live on CBS.
