Since releasing her 2009 debut The Bridge, R&B singer Melanie Fiona has won two Grammys and is up for another one this year for her sophomore LP The MF Life.
"What The MF Life taught me is that life is full of highs and lows, and that journey is what makes for a beautiful story," Fiona tells VIBE.
The journey recently took the Canadian singer to Park City, Utah for the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, where she performed at the ASCAP Music Cafe. (Several 2013 Sundance films feature the music of ASCAP's many composers and songwriter members.)
"It's got a good vibe," Fiona says of her first Sundance experience. "Everybody that is here is just here to celebrate art in all forms."
Fiona is getting back to work on her own art. She's already begun working on new material for her third album. "I think the approach this time for me is a very organic place," adds Fiona. "I feel like I wanna write all my songs on piano and guitar, and build it into whatever it's going to be."
