Thursday (March 29)m New York State and New York City health departments banned the sale of synthetic marijuana.
Metro New York reports that sales of the drugs, which have been sold in convenience stores for three years under the brand names including "Spice", "K2" and "Mr. Nice Guy," must "cease immediately." The products produce a high when taken, but have been linked to increased heart rate, seizures, loss of consciousness and even death.
"They are sold as herbal products, giving users a perception of safety. But, in fact, they are toxic drugs sprayed on plant leaves, stated Dr. Robert Hoffman director of the city's Poison Control Center.
Any indiviudal caught with the drug will be subject to fines and even those horrible side effects discussed.
Be careful out there people!
