Dwyane Wade will ball hard in the name of literacy as he teams up with bestselling author James Patterson to encourage children to read.

On Thursday (March 21), the Miami Heat star will stop by the Ponce De Leon Middle School in Coral Gables, FL to chat with the youth in a conversation moderated by the team’s courtside reporter Jason Jackson. Kids from across the country will be able to submit their questions to the author and DWade through social media prior to the event, which will stream online via a national online webcast called ONE ON ONE: Fundamentals with Dwyane Wade and James Patterson.

Less than a week later, Wade will bring his A-game to the hardwood floor. For every point he scores in the Heat’s March 27 game against the Chicago Bulls, the Hachette Book Group will donate 1,000 copies of Patterson books to young readers in the Miami-Dade school system.

In collaboration with NBA Cares, the Wade’s World Foundation, ReadKiddoRead and Hachette Book Group, ONE ON ONE will air on Thursday, April 25 at 1pm ET on www.JamesPattersonEvents.com.
