T.I. Helps Family Members Of Inmates At Correctional Facility

Posted May 31, 2011

This past weekend, T.I. managed to show further proof of his humanitarian qualities, even though he’s currently stuck behind bars.

The Atlanta rapper, who is serving an 11-month sentence for violating his probation after being arrested for drug possession back in 2010. This year he financed a bus trip for the families of 14 inmates to visit their loved ones at the Forrest City Correctional Facility in Forrest City, Arkansas, where T.I.P. is currently serving his sentence.

ATL's self-proclaimed ‘King of the South’ spoke to MTV News about this philanthropic move and the daily love and support he receives from his family, friends and fans: "I've been blessed to receive tons and tons of mail from my fans, family and friends, as well as get visits on a regular basis. Unfortunately some guys aren't as fortunate. There are a lot of good dudes in here that haven't been able to see their loved ones in years. Their families can't afford the trip so I wanted to help out."

The trip, dubbed ‘To See a Love One’, took place over the Memorial Day weekend. The bus trip, beginning in Atlanta, transported 46 friends and family members of 14 inmates to Arkansas where they were able to visit their loved ones for two days (May 29 & 30).
