It’s a good year for TLC fans. Not only will they be getting a made-for-TV biopic about their lives as the chart-topping girl group to air on VH1 later this year and performing at the Mixtape Festival, T-Boz and Chilli are also hitting the studio with some industry heavyweights.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the R&B queens opened up about what else to expect from them this year, including possible collaborations with Ne-Yo, Drake and J. Cole.
“There’s a lot of great things coming up lately for TLC and one of the things that we’re known for is entertaining and touring — and so I say, ‘If it’s not broke, don’t fix it,’” T-Boz explained. “Like, why not go out again and do what we love to do best?”
When asked about their upcoming collabos, T-Boz went on to explain how the respected legends of the game have been pretty lucky. “Everybody has shown us love,” she explained. “Not one person has said ‘No,’ and that’s amazing. So we’re just going to go in and demo and demo and figure it out. I talked to Dallas [Austin] today, we’re Skyping to see if I want to do this song that he has. I just left the studio last night. I go in again tomorrow.”
Chilli adds that they want to bring something new to the table. “We don’t want to come out with sounds that people are jamming to and used to right now,” she said.
