Before sharing the screen and stage with Trey Songz thanks to the single "Yesterday," Toni Braxton nearly hung up her mic for good.
Breaking news that she had heavily considered retiring during a recent taping for Walmart Soundcheck, Braxton said "I tried to pull a Jay-Z and say 'I'm gonna retire.'
Calling performing something that is simply in her DNA, Braxton says "I had to come out and perform. I enjoy performing so much that I had to do it."
As previously reported, Braxton's first album since parting ways with longtime home, Blackground Records, is due this year.
Set for release through Atlantic Records, her upcoming, as-yet-untitled album, could arrive in stores as early as February.
