After much delay and speculation, Ubisoft's Watch Dogs will be available worldwide on May 27, 2014 for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The Wii U version will be announced at a later date.
"We're really excited for the launch of Watch Dogs on both PS3 and PS4 and are confident that it will prove to be one of the standout games of 2014," SCEA's Michael Pattison said in a press release. "It's a unique and visionary game and we believe that the exclusive content available via PSN will not only excite gamers, but showcase how PlayStation is a preferred destination for Watch Dogs."
In the game, players will assume the role of Aiden Pearce, a new type of vigilante hero who, with the help of his smartphone, will take Chicago's central operating system (or cfos) to task and hack his way into the lives of foes and the city itself.
Those who purchase the PlayStation 3 or 4 versions will receive a bit of exclusive DLC that should add about 60 minutes of additional gameplay to this already highly anticipated franchise.
"We are pleased to be able to reveal to gamers all over the world the new release date for Watch Dogs," said Geoffroy Sardin, EMEA SVP of Sales and Marketing at Ubisoft. "We are extremely confident that the additional time we afforded the dev team to refine and polish the game will be more than worth the wait."
Many pundits and gamers alike wondered out loud why the game, which was pegged for first quarter 2014 release, was pushed back. Hopefully, this trailer, which boasts an all-new look at what drives Aiden Pearce, will satiate you until the game's release.
