In a blog post on the director’s website, Michael Bay said, “Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES.”

Stopping short of offering an apology for his behavior during Samsung’s news conference, Michael Bay was blindsided by a malfunctioning teleprompter on Monday.

The event was put together to tout Samsung’s new 105-inch curved UHD.

The Transformers 4 director was unable to ad lib his way throughout the presentation and became clearly agitated before running off the stage in front of hundreds of reporters. With Samsung Executive Vice President Joe Stinziano alone on stage, plenty of memes were created in a manner of nanoseconds.

“I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar,” Bay said. “I got too excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down — then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing.”

Samsung hasn’t spoken about the situation yet, but Bay’s meltdown instantly became the most talked-about moment at the Consumer Electronics Show.
