The life and times of Tupac Shakur are finally headed to the big screen. According to Deadline, Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films and Morgan Creek Productions will be co-financing and co-producing the biopic named Tupac.
While the team behind the film based on the legendary rapper's life has had several false starts due to multiple switch-ups in cast and crew, shooting is now slated to begin in Atlanta with a tentative February start date. Equipped with a $45 million budget and the full rights to Tupac's musical catalog, the film will be executive produced by his mother, Afeni Shakur, alongside James G. Robinson, David Robinson, and LT Hutton along with Randall Emmett and George Furla.
'Pac passed away at the age of 25 after being shot in Las Vegas in 1996. This isn't the only posthumous project in the works for the hip-hop star/actor. A musical based on his life titled Holler If Ya Hear Me is currently being workshopped for Broadway.
