"Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Pt. 2" Continues To Tops U.S. Box Office

"Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Pt. 2" Continues To Tops U.S. Box Office

VIBE Pop Culture Posted December 3, 2012

After taking out all-comers in its debut, "Twilight: Breaking Dawn — Part 2" is still the glittery king of the box office hill.

The "Twilight Saga" nabbed $17.4 million this weekend, putting the total up to $254.5 million and kept a lot of major competition at bay. "Skyfall," the Daniel Craig-starring actioner stayed happy in second place, taking in $17 million (with $246 million so far in the U.S.). Daniel Day-Lewis' "Lincoln" stayed consistent in third place, earning $13.59 million.

The entire top six on the box office list stayed identical to last week, with "Rise of the Guardians" continuing to underperform slightly, yet still keeping pace in its second week for $13.05 million to come in fourth place. "Life Of Pi" was fifth with $12 million and "Wreck-It Ralph" held down the sixth place, making $7.02 million.

Brad Pitt had hoped to ease audiences into his action-y side with the film "Killing Them Softly," yet his hopes were dashed when the film opened to $7 million dollars to come in seventh place. This marks the actor's lowest wide release in nearly 20 years. "Red Dawn" slipped downward one place to eighth, adding $6.5 million for $31.3 so far. "Flight," which stars Denzel Washington and John Goodman, earned $4.5 million and the horror flick, "The Collection," didn't scare up the bucks on its launch, as it only pulled in $3.4 million for 10th place.
