Outside of the artists who were nominated for Grammy Awards last month, there are a lot of other people who are eligible to win a Grammy trophy at the 2013 Grammy Awards on February 10. There are a lot of behind-the-scenes people like producers, songwriters, and even engineers who are also given trophies if a song or album that they worked on receives a Grammy Award. You don’t see or hear from them a lot—in fact, there’s a pretty good chance that you couldn’t pick most of them out of a lineup—but they’re often just as excited as the artists themselves to be nominated. A Grammy Award nomination validates their work and proves that they’ve been a part of something special. One such person is Ty Dolla $ign. He’s an artist signed to Atlantic Records right now, and he had a hit song of his own called “My Cabana” in 2012. But, he’s actually being recognized by the Grammy Awards this year for his work on Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa’s hit single, “Young, Wild & Free.” He helped write the song, which is up for a “Best Rap Song” award next month. And, recently, Hip-Hop Wired caught up with him to talk about what his Grammy nomination means to him. Check out the video below to hear him talk about it. You may not know Ty Dolla’s name yet. But, if his Grammy Award nomination is any indication, there are bigger things in store for him in the near future.
