Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell and former group 2 Live Crew have reunited and are set to tour this summer.
Campbell announced the exciting news while promoting his film The Life and Freaky Times of Uncle Luke at the Sundance Film Festival.
The film chronicles the story of Campbell’s character--a rising hip-hop star and political activist.
Despite the film, the raunchy rap veteran’s focus was on his newly-reunited group and eagerness to prepare for their upcoming tour in which he says everyone will be “excited” by the songs that 2 Live Crew performs.
“Some of the older people of our generation will be able to tell their kids, ‘You’re staying home tonight, we’re going to see 2 Live Crew and shake our booty!’,” said Campbell to the Associated Press.
Since his days of creating controversial music with the 2 Live Crew, such as the smash-hit “Me So Horny,” Campbell has released numerous solo albums as well as ran for mayor of Miami-Dade County and is now executive spokesman for the prescription pharmaceutical provider Progressive Care Inc. --Jazmine Gray
