Unreleased Jimi Hendrix To Hit Shelves

Unreleased Jimi Hendrix To Hit Shelves

Posted January 11, 2010

Nearly forty years after this death, the legend of music icon Jimi Hendrix is still enduring.

Fans of the genius ax-man, who has long been cited as the greatest guitarist of all-time, can look forward to unreleased music documenting his pivotal creative period of 1969.

Valleys of Neptune, an album featuring 12 tracks, some of which written during a four-month run in 1969, features the original Jimi Hendrix Experience’s final recordings. The set also features early sessions with legendary bassist Billy Cox, who was eventually recruited into Hendrix’s new ensemble. The project is scheduled to hit shelves March 9.

The album is a result of a new partnership between the artist’s Experience Hendrix estate and Sony Music Entertainment’s Legacy Recordings. Through a press statement, Janie Hendrix, CEO of Experience Hendrix LLC—the Hendrix family-owned company that oversees the legacy of the influential rock giant––said, "My brother Jimi was at home in the studio. Valleys of Neptune offers deep insight into his mastery of the recording process and demonstrates the fact that he was as unparalleled a recording innovator as he was a guitarist. His brilliance shines through on every one of these precious tracks."

Valleys of Neptune's title cut will be released as a single globally on February 2, 2010. Below is a track listing for the vintage project. --Keith Murphy
