50 Cent finally announced a release date for his upcoming fifth studio album on Tuesday (Mar. 20).
His as-of-yet titled LP has been riddled with setbacks and delays since Fif’s last album Before I Self Destruct was released. However, G-Unit’s founder says the summer will be the return of the bad guy.
"I got some heat trust me I'm ready," 50 tweeted. "My birthdays july 6 so that's a cool date for ME. Its gonna be july2 album, july4 independence day, then july6 my birthday."
He also wrote about getting suport from Eminem and Dr. Dre on the forthcoming project.
"I kicked it with EM after the show i told him how I feel about my new album," 50 tweeted. "I'm gonna get on the phone with DRE today about it."
Recently, Fif talked about the album being his best work to date and the tremendous amount of his heart and soul going into the creation of his "comeback" project. But he did hold back in one area of the album’s recording process. 50 told VIBE he wouldn’t try his hand at producing like many of today’s new rap stars, such as J. Cole and Big K.R.I.T.
“No, I don’t want to get producer’s ears,” 50 told VIBE. “What I mean by that is [when] the producer hears his snare, his kick, and what he think his keys should be on the actual records and sometimes they can’t hear something that’s hot, that someone else [did.]”
He added, “A hit is a marriage between the production and the actual lyrics and tone.”
