Taking his We The Best Music Group to new heights, DJ Khaled has officially inked a new deal with Cash Money Records.
Last Thursday (Aug. 19), the Miami-based music maven took to his Twitter account to announce his new partnership along with several photos of his meeting with Cash Money CEOs Baby and Slim.
“It’s definitely official, and I’m just excited about the new deal with Cash Money. Shout to Birdman, Slim. And free Weezy.” Khaled told VIBE. "You know, I’ve always been a Cash Money member, not officially but I’ve been a fan forever."
Khaled says he's kept in close contact with the Cash Money family, which has always looked out for him.
“Birdman always loved my work and passion. We’ve known each other for years, and he’s always told me when you fulfill your contract with E1 you always got a home over here," Khaled explained. "I was going to sign myself, but I called Birdman and he said 'let’s get the deal done in an hour.' He just wanted to make it happen.”
Looking to solidify his position as one of hip-hop's greatest curators, Khaled says he's already begun work on his Cash Money debut, which is slated for an early 2011 release. The project titled We The Best Forever looks to be his most promising to date. Khaled was tightlipped about guests, but says he's already booked studio time with T.I. And he's still hoping for his dream collaboration—a song with Eminem—to come to fruition.
