VIBE’s Daily Additions to the ‘Pod

1. Joey Bada$$ – Rejex (Mixtape)
On these “b-sides” that didn’t make the original 1999 mixtape, Joey comes through with a project that almost parrallels the original—which if you haven’t heard, is a very good thing. From the hard-hitting “Intro,” to the smooth “Pantie Raid,” this will definitely get the equal acclaim that 1999 did upon its release this year. In our best Alicia Keys voice, this kid is on fire.

2. Lupe Fiasco – “American Terrorist, Pt. 2″
Lupe dabbles with dubstep/rock quite well on this track. Although it’s supposedly unfinished, “American Terrorist, Pt. 2″ is a proper listen. This only proves why Lupe should not be thinking about retiring right now.

3. Nyche (feat. Fred The Godson & Cam’Ron) – “Ziplock”
A Cam verse always makes for a great track. Paired with some impressive production that sounds made for a Harlem basement party, we definitely recommend banging this out your car window.

4. Jean Grae – “Kill Screen”
Jean Grae has bars for days. If her Gotham Down album sounds anything like “Kill Screen,” we’ll definitely keep our ears to the streets for that.

5. Austin Millz & DJ Super Nova – “My Trap Of Party (Dom Kennedy Remix)”
This one relies solely on the beat, as Dom’s original vocals are used more as a tool than a means to guide the song. Both Austin & Super Nova take Dom’s original “My Type Of Party,” and give it the trippy treatment. The result is definitely good on the ears.
