VIBE’s Morning Additions to the ‘Pod

1. Santigold – “Girls”
Santi stays true to her electronic pop sound, while still matching the nature of HBO’s hit Girls & their downtown hipster vibe. We wonder what warehouse party this will play at in season 2.

2. Consequence (feat. Estelle) – “When I Woke Up”
This proves that if you want a dope hip-hop soul collaboration, go see Estelle. Cons takes his apparent ‘Ye influence and applies it well on this smooth joint.

3. Raekwon – “Who Shot Ya Freestyle”
There’s probably not a better person to freestyle over a Biggie underground classic. Rae doesn’t disappoint in the least bit. Basically, the Chef’s still got it.

4. Teena Marie – “Luv Letter”
Teena’s departed soul shines bright on “Luv Better,” where she delivers a fun, funky, and playful love song that captures her artistry to a tee. Make sure you guys support her posthumous album, Beautiful, when it’s released on January 15, 2013.

5. Glasses Malone – Glass House (Mixtape)
The beats on Glass House seem to have a “get-hype” feel, almost like it was made for Harlem dance crews. He’s having fun on his controversially-titled “Rihanna,” celebrates the good life on “Somethin’ Else,” and gets X-rated on “I Need A Fr3ak.” Overall, this is a joint for the swag-surfers.
