VIBE TV: A Day in the Life of Luke James

Music

/ February 27, 2013

New Orleans bred Luke James is a microcosim. He hasn’t released a solo album yet — his debut Made to Love drops this summer — but his one-off single “I Want You” is almost at 2 million YouTube views, and was nominated for a 2013 Grammy. James didn’t win the award, but the nod put him in the ranks of Miguel, Estelle, the Robert Glasper Experiment and Usher, the latter who ultimately took home the prize.

Since the success of “I Want You,” James has been dropping love songs left and right. He crooned “Make Love To Me” on his follow-up and Ne-Yo-penned single, and turned down the bedroom lights with his Whispers in the Dark mixtape. His latest offering, the smooth burner “I.O.U.”, dropped earlier this month to hold over fans till Made to Love finally arrives.

James spent Grammy day with VIBE. Our cameras were there to capture the crooner getting ready for the red carpet. It was James’ first time to the awards show … but probably not his last.
