(Video) Kobe Bryant vs. Kyrie Irving For $50,000 & Says ’92 Dream Team Would Lose

Datwon Thomas / July 13, 2012

Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant berates the young stud Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavs while in Las Vegas for the Team USA Olympic practice sessions. It’s not really clear who brought the challenge to whom, but the two basketball stars had a gentleman’s handshake on a $50,000 bet to go one-on-one in the summer of 2013, with the money going to Kobe’s charity. As much as the money is a factor, the trash talk that Kobe drags Kyrie through makes this match something to look forward to next year.

In one scene Kyrie pleads with the camera person and says: “[Kobe] thinks he’s talking to a high school kid!” Kobe jumps in and snaps back, “You just came out of high school, kid!” Between jabs like, “You are about the same size as Bow Wow”, Kobe gets serious on the “young fella” when he states, “you are going to be calling the ref like, ‘That was a foul!'” Take these next few minutes out of your day to see Kobe verbally abuse Kyrie, in a cool way.

In other news Kobe went out and said that the famed 1992 Dream Team wouldn’t be able to beat the current USA Olympic team in one game. Check his response to through writer Ben Golliver:

“Here’s Kobe Bryant’s full, must-read response to Michael Jordan’s Dream Team trash talk. Jordan said he laughed when he heard Bryant said the 2012 USA Basketball team could beat the 1992 Dream Team. Bryant’s post-game response after USA defeated Dominican Republic in Las Vegas on Thursday night: ‘So what, he knows I’m a bad mother[expletive]. I’m not really tripping. The fact is, they have Ewing and Robinson and those big guys, it’s tough. If you’re asking me, ‘Can you beat them one game?’ Hell yeah, we can beat them in one game. You didn’t ask me if we could beat them in a 7-game series. In one game, we can beat them. No question about it.’”

And oh, you thought Kyrie was a little crazy talking back to Kobe like that too? Well, check the young fella in action against the big homie last weekend. He’s a serious problem.
