Are you hip to the Shmoney Dance yet, or nah? Even Beyonce and Jay Z are hip to the latest Vine craze. Either way, you're going to have to catch up, because Bobby Shmurda—the face of the backyard BBQ-like dance—just became a member of the Epic Records family.
Epic Records executive Sha Money XL broke the news on his social media accounts. “Deal is done @bobby_shmurda #EPIC no one does the underdogs better then me. Brooklyn this 1 is for you,” he said under one of his photos. He even shared a video of the excited teen dancing on the conference room table.
The young New York rapper took both the concrete and digital streets by storm with his surprise hit "Hot Nigga" and the viral Shmoney Dance. Aside from the Carters—who both quoted and demonstrated his dance on their On The Run Tour—Shmurda and friends have been getting cosigns left and right. DJ Drama respects the Brooklynite's progress and Meek Mill, Fabolous and Raekwon the Chef brought him out at this year's Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival.
