Vivica A. Fox Takes A Screen Break And Hits The Stage

Movies & TV

RI Reeves / November 4, 2010

Known for her film roles in Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Set It Off and most recently on television in Curb Your Enthusiasm and Drop Dead Diva, Vivica A. Fox has been taking a working holiday from the big and small screen to star and co-produce the traveling stage play, Je’Caryous Johnson’s Cheaper To Keep Her. And Fox says she also looks at this acting opportunity to give back to her fans in a live way—up close and personal.

“I always make sure that when people spend their hard earned money especially, during a recession, that I don’t waste you’re time. I make sure that when you walk away [from this play] you have a wonderful time,” she says. “We opened this show during the week in Los Angeles [a few months back]  and the fact that we got a great crowd coming out to support us on our opening night was just beautiful.”

Fox stars opposite singer Brian McKnight in Cheaper To Keep Her, which will be hitting four additional cities (Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago and Baltimore) into the new year. And the 46-year old actress says as much as she’s a theater fan, “Stage is an intimate experience every night the people are right there in living color. So if you mess up they’re with you. And I absolutely love it,” expect to see more of her on screen, online and possibly at a beauty and hair store near you.

“Right now I’m the voice of Angel Dynamite on the new Scooby Doo cartoon on the Cartoon Network— so I’ll always continue to do TV, hosting and film,” says Fox. “But I also have a new wig line coming out. I’ve got over 90 wigs—synthetic hair, ponytails, extensions the whole nine. Yes baby, I’m branding now.”—Ronke Idowu Reeves
