When VIBE nabbed Waka Flocka to perform alongside DJ Chuckie at the Dirty Dutch party down at Winter Music Conference this year, we were unaware the dreaded “punk rapper” had an EDM album up his sleeves. Or perhaps VIBE inspired the album by showing Flame how it’s done…

In a recent interview with Hiphop DX, Waka said he is already the king of rap EDM. “Punk Rap, that’s EDM,” he said “People didn’t understand what I was saying, now they do. I see a lot of my students, I’m like the principal, I’m here to talk. The King of Rap EDM is me.”

The album, Waka says is already in motion and will feature guest appearances from Flosstradamus, Diplo, Skrillex and some underground people. Despite the “Hard in the Paint” rapper’s sentiments that he is the first to cross-genres, hip-hop has already begun to embrace EDM and its enormous tidal wave. Only time will tell if Waka will be able to get the strip club DJs to play EDM for the ladies who work the pole.
