The nation's largest retailer of DVDs plans to enter the digital market in the coming months.
Walmart has announced that Vudu, a streaming movie rental and retail service will be available through Walmart. com. They acquired the company in 2010 and have been steadily incorporating the service into over 300 internet connected devices.
Customers will be able to stream movies from the site starting at $99 cents to $5.99, digital purchases will range from from $4.99 to $24.99. You can expect Vudu.com releases to coincide with actual DVD drop dates.
Walmart's general manager, Steve Nave, commented on the addition.
"We know customers are starting to shift their behavior, in terms of how they consume their media," Nave said. "We don't want to lose that customer as they shift to digital."
