Lifetime's biopic on the late great Whitney Houston continues to be the center of controversy. Still, the Angela Bassett-directed show must go on.
Entertainment Tonight snagged a backstage pass to the set of I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston Story and asked Bassett, leading lady Yaya DaCosta and singer Deborah Cox (who will be providing the vocals for the film) about the response the project has been receiving from both critics and Houston's family alike.
"For a great opportunity, there will be criticism," Bassett told ET. "You learn to expect that but what you don't need is to be looking for naysayers. You have a job to do."
Even Top Model star DaCosta says she's tuning out the drama. "I've kinda turned all social media off, I didn't wanna be distracted by the expectations," she said.
The biopic won't hit theaters until 2015 but you can catch a teeny sneak peek below.
