Worlds collided at Powerhouse 2013 when rap's cool kids stormed the stage at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn Saturday night (Nov. 2).
Two of the show's performers, Top Dawg Entertainment and A$AP Mob sat down for a joint interview before the festivities with the Breakfast Club to discuss A$AP's feelings on Kendrick's "Control" verse and if the Compton kid was coming for Drake in his BET cypher.
"We were just having fun. Hip-hop is a sport. People are going to dissect lyrics and that's what it's about at the end of the day," said Kendrick, whose lyrical jabs have stirred a multitude of headlines since "Control" dropped this year. "I got nothing against Drake. He put out a great album again. He's doing his thing and he's part of a new generation with his music."
The morning crew then discussed Ferg dropping two huge club bangers "Work" and "Shabba Ranks," the status of Schoolboy Q and Jay Rock's forthcoming projects, the state of New York rap, how Q feels when folks say "Kendrick Lamar and Black Hippy," and more below.
