D'Angelo said it with his chest at The Brooklyn Museum Wednesday (May 21) for the Red Bull Music Academy's interview series. He dropped knowledge on his longevity in the music biz, his relationship with longtime collaborator Questlove (who was also present) and sounded off on being label a Neo-Soul artist.
“I don't want to disassociate, and I respect it for what it is, but any time you put a name on something, you put it in a box," the "Voodoo" singer said. “I never claimed I do Neo-Soul. When I first came out, I said, I do black music.”
