CyHi The Prynce stopped by the Sway In The Morning morning show to promote his Black Hystori Project mixtape. In a conversation that ranged from the conception of his stage name to the inspiration behind his latest music, Cy also shared that Jay Z and Beyonce were behind Kanye West signing him to G.O.O.D. Music.
“I snuck my verse on ‘So Appalled.’ I put it at the end of the song so nobody would hear it," he said. "So they kept the beat playing, I guess the engineer didn’t stop the beat, so I guess my verse just came in. [Jay z] said him and Bey was listening to it like ‘Who the fuck is this?’ He was like ‘Whoever that is, you need to sign him.’”
Returning to his new music, the rapper opted out of playing the music for the radio, and instead chose to perform cuts from The Black Hystori Project live. Ripping through tracks including "Nelson Mandela" and "Basquiat," CyHi The Prynce even performed for Reverend Run, who was also impressed with him, saying "I enjoyed the movie i just saw."
