Leave your history books at home when you decide to see Zack Snyder's 300 sequel in theaters.
In this action-packed film, 300: Rise of an Empire follows those crazy-as-fluck Spartans taking to the sea, leaving a wake of bodies and blood in the ocean.
Released Wednesday, the clip finds movie fans inundated with violence and destruction, backed by a voice-over from Lena Headey's Queen Gorgo. "The oracle's words stand as a warning," she says. "Sparta will fall. All of Greece will fall. And only stout, wooden ships can save them. Wooden ships and a tidal wave of heroes' blood."
Very ominous sounding indeed.
Based on Frank Miller's Xerxes (not to be confused with 300, his landmark graphic novel) and the historical Battle of Artemisium, a naval engagement concurrent with 300's battle at Thermopylae. The film, which is directed by Noam Murro and produced by Snyder, is marketed as not a sequel or a prequel, but as its own free-standing entry.
