The Donald Sterling situation is stirring up all kinds of feels within people across the board. The-Dream made his feelings about discrimination and oppression be known in his new lyric video for “Black.” “Enough pain can make whole race bitter,” he sings somberly.

Don’t let the title fool you; while images of struggle and hate may flash across the screen, the song doesn’t focus on the hardships of black people. The message revolves around the notion that black is the descriptor of what isolation “by the world of the governing elite” feels like. He also borrows a line from Kanye West’s infamous rants: “Classism is the new racism.”
