Mass Appeal paid tribute to Philadelphia’s hip-hop group The Roots by putting together a thank you visual called “Deeply Rooted.” Friends and fans of the live rap band showed their appreciation to The Roots in the viral clip. Producer D-Dot Angelettie, The Roots engineer Spawn Vicious, poet Abel Back and others appear in the tribute film.

“It’s our roots that allow us to grow and we have a group that signifies all that history in their music,” said Abiodun Oyewole, of the spoke-word group The Last Poets.

The Roots 11th studio album & Then You Shot Your Cousin, which is available on iTunes, was released earlier this year.
